Introducing Fountain, the hiring platform for hourly workers — built for speed and scale.
When we first introduced OnboardIQ two years ago, our goal was to bring the best of what modern sales and marketing technology had to offer into the hiring process for large, transient workforces. Early customers were blown away by the speed and scale they could expand and maintain their workforce with the introduction of smart automation. Looking back, it’s easy to see why they were impressed: the incumbent solutions built for hiring hourly workers had seen practically no change in the past decade.
As a result, we’ve been able to accomplish quite a bit. In two short years, some of the largest and most forward-thinking companies in the world, such as Uber, Safeway, Deliveroo, and Caviar, have come to rely on our software to power its massive employee hiring and contractor vetting operations, across 50 countries and 700 cities. Through OnboardIQ, our customers have communicated with well over 4 million candidates and have provided 464,695 people (!) with real jobs. It would be an understatement to say that we are very proud of the product we’ve built, and even more so of the growth our customers have accomplished with us.
Over the years, however, we began to realize the shortcomings of our original name. OnboardIQ was no longer meant for just onboarding, as our customers began to use our platform across the hiring stack, from sourcing candidates, to screening, to continuous workforce management.
In addition, our mission began to evolve as we saw the impact our product was making not only to employers, but also to candidates looking for reliable work. We realized that our product, team, and mission had all outgrown our name, and thus began our search for a name that would better reflect our ambitions.
Fountain marks the next chapter in our company.
Today, we are incredibly excited to relaunch OnboardIQ as Fountain, the hiring platform for the hourly workforce — built for speed and scale.
The scrappiness and hustle of our garage-startup days of OnboardIQ will forever remain in our DNA, as we turn a new chapter and take our first step with what we hope will become a lasting, iconic brand.
Under Fountain, we will further our mission of maximizing efficiency in the global labor market and providing economic opportunity to local workers. This is a very vast problem to tackle, because despite the fact that a massive 60% of the workforce is represented by the hourly-work demographic (77M people in America and 2B globally), it’s a demographic that has been largely underserved by technology.
Fountain is changing this. Now more than ever, there is an enormous need to facilitate interactions between employers and job-seekers, and we view our future as a critical piece in that narrative.
As we look ahead, we are motivated by a strong mission, and guided by a clear product vision that will fundamentally shape the way thousands of employers and billions of job seekers interact. These are just the early days, and we look forward to embarking on this long journey together.
